Preston Area Business Alliance (PABA) is a network of business owners and community leaders dedicated to advancing business through enhanced connection, understanding, and action. We focus on supporting, promoting, and strengthening businesses along the Preston Corridor. PABA is a collective of individuals with personal or business interests along the corridor, and creates a platform for its members to strengthen business relationships through networking; voice their most pressing concerns in a unified way; and leverage the alliance as a resource for communicating trends, needs, and recommending strategy and vision for the future of the Preston Corridor.

HISTORY

During 2021 and 2022, and with funding from Metro Council, the Louisville Independent Business Alliance was hired to explore the needs and wants of Preston area stakeholders. After conducting surveys of businesses, residents and corridor users, common themes were found. Interest was high in forming a business association to address issues and gain synergies for the businesses in the Preston area.

A "launch" committee formed and met periodically during this time to lay the foundation of a business alliance for Preston. The founding members of this committee were (and still are) the champions of the Alliance:

  • David Beck/Kentucky Venues
  • Councilwoman Nicole George (District 21)
  • Eric Keyes/Keyes Architects & Associates
  • Steven Matly/Matly Digital Services
  • Kevin Moore/Kentucky Venues
  • Councilman Pat Mulvihill (District 10)
  • Rachel Roarx/District 21 Office
  • Patricia Williams/Wesley House
  • Geoff Wohl/District 10 Office

A naming survey was conducted and area businesses chose Preston Area Business Alliance as the alliance name. A Board of Directors has been elected, and we continue to established and grow the Preston Area business membership base. Some of our plans include:

  • Capitalize on strength in numbers within the Business Network
  • Create a unified voice to work with city, state, LMPD and other agencies
  • Explore potential for cost savings in services (ie. litter pick up, beautification, etc.)
  • Explore potential for area branding, signage, directories and events
  • Apply for funding and grants to benefit the whole area
  • Work toward community building, networking, creating neighborhood pride
  • Work to address area issues and concerns for Preston businesses
